Peace Site Dedication on September 17th

year, the Friends School Student Council worked to register
the school as a Peace Site. At 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September
17, Friends School formally dedicated the school as a Peace
Site with its new Peace Pole outside the front door--the result
of the Student Council's work.
Institutions that become Peace Sites affirm peace and nonviolence
at every level, a healthy environment, and a sustainable ecosystem.
Student Council members wanted to register the school as a
Peace Site because the "school values are centered on
peace" and "we want others to know that we stand
for peace, justice and integrity."
The seven-foot-tall peace pole bears the message "May
Peace Prevail on Earth" in eight languages. It is a wonderful
and fitting addition to the school.
