The Annual Fund
Our halls are filled with happy, motivated students excited about learning. The classrooms are alive with engaged teachers and students. We continue to do amazing things in educating children. Research shows the critical importance of a strong education in these early years and the contribution it makes to the child's overall success in the future. At Friends School, children really do get learning that lasts a lifetime.
Each year, we ask parents, grandparents, alumni and their parents, Quakers, staff and friends of the school to contribute to the scholarship fund and general operating budget through the Annual Fund. The Annual Fund is how Friends School helps pay the difference between what it costs to run the school and what is charged in tuition. Your gift makes a big difference! The Annual Fund helps increase our teacher's salaries, pays for school supplies, and covers the cost of things like heating and electricity.
Thanks to generous gifts from supporters, the Annual Fund helps bridge the $2,408 gap between the cost of educating EACH child at Friends School and what is paid for by tuition. This $2,408 gap is an invisible scholarship that every FSM student receives. But it must be paid for if we are to remain fiscally strong.
Last year's Annual Fund was our best ever, contributing $486 per student to the school budget, but even that amount fell short of the gap. Our 80 percent parent participation was very impressive, but we need to do more to close the tuition gap. To do that, the Annual Fund must raise $75,000 and we look for 85 percent of our parents to help do that. After all, it is each of your children who benefits from the enriched program that the Annual Fund provides.
