Service Learning
At Friends School, we believe students of all ages can and should be active in our greater community. Children can make a difference in our world and service learning is integrated throughout the FSM curriculum.
FSM students have a variety of opportunities for service learning, supporting the Quaker values of community, integrity, and justice. A few examples:
- working the Friends School Plant Sale to raise money for FSM tuition aid
- running the school composting and recycling program
- raising money and volunteering at Feed My Starving Children
- making polarfleece kitty-beds for a no-kill cat shelter
- learning about and selling sweat-free FSM logo clothing through Student Council
- service learning at Centro
- shoveling snow for elderly neighbors
We even offer a summer session that is devoted to community service and open to middle school students throughout the Twin Cities.
