Service Learning

At Friends School, we believe students of all ages can and should be active in our greater community.  Children can make a difference in our world and service learning is integrated throughout the FSM curriculum.

FSM students have a variety of opportunities for service learning, supporting the Quaker values of community, integrity, and justice. A few examples:

• working the Friends School Plant Sale to raise money for FSM tuition aid
• running the school composting and recycling program
• raising money and volunteering at Feed My Starving Children
• making polarfleece kitty-beds for a no-kill cat shelter
• learning about and selling sweat-free FSM logo clothing through Student Council
• service learning at Centro
• shoveling snow for elderly neighbors

We even offer a summer session that is devoted to community service and open to middle school students throughout the Twin Cities.
