Danielle Downey is a graduate of the University of Iowa, with degrees in biology and psychology.  Soon after college, she switched gears and became a carpenter.  She has taught a few woodworking classes with the Friends School kids.

She loves interacting with the students as well as maintaining the building. Recycling and providing a safe environment for the kids are her highest priorities. Her daughter, Reese, also attends the school, which makes the job almost effortless.

Danielle and Reese run D & R Pet Ranch Rescue together.  They can frequently be seen in the halls of the school showing the kids one of their rescued animals. Their ranch includes cats, dogs, guinea pigs, a bunny, a salamander, a box turtle, a leopard gecko, and a chicken!
