Chad has worked at FSM since 2008. He has a B.A. in media and cultural studies from Macalester College and an M.A. in school leadership from Columbia University’s Klingenstein Center.

Chad has also taught 5th grade at the Minneapolis Jewish Day School. He is a self-described foodie and enjoys going to local restaurants. He also loves going to the theater and traveling.

Chad believes strongly in educational equity and strives for a world where every student has equal access to high quality education. He enjoys working with students at all levels.

“I strongly believe that the best learning occurs when students feel affirmed and confident. Students must feel supported and understand that mistakes are inevitable. The school community must be welcoming and accepting of all styles of learners. The ultimate goal for any educator is to create independent thinkers. This can be accomplished through inquiry-based learning. Project-based assessments, group work, and individual assignments are all essential pieces of creating such an inquiry-based classroom.”

Chad believes that learning must also be fun. He enjoys using creative dramatics in the classroom. He believes that creative expression (writing, acting, dance, etc.) is an essential component of the elementary classroom. “Students must enjoy coming to school!”

Chad loves the strong community at Friends School of Minnesota. “It is amazing. Teachers, parents and administrators all care about you and your success at the school.”
